Week
of: April 4, 2016
Reading and Language Arts: This week students will continue
to look at different types of narrative stories. We will also be reading more
nonfiction short passages and doing comparing/contrasting. **Students should be
reading at least 25 minutes for homework every night!
Grammar: We will be reviewing root
words, prefixes and suffixes.
Writing: This week in writing, we
will be discussing different ways to end our narrative stories. Please ask your
child about their favorite way. We will then begin to put together everything
that we have learned!
Science: This week we will be starting
to study rocks. We will talk about the difference between a rock and a mineral.
We will also introduce the 3 types of rocks: igneous, metamorphic and
sedimentary.
Math: This week will begin our
study of geometry and shapes. Students will be developing geometry dictionaries
to help with the shapes we are studying.
